PearLife supports active WLU members in the event of critical illness and death. It is a defined member benefit tied to active contribution and the agreed support process.

Your payout percentage is determined by your membership tier. The higher your category, the greater the sum assured paid to your beneficiary.

Members will also be able to withdraw 50% of the sum assured after 20 years of membership, on condition that one has not utilized this benefit.

Payment Process

Fast, transparent bank transfer — in Ugandan Shillings.

In the event of a valid claim, the payout will be made to the designated beneficiary or estate of the deceased member in Ugandan Shillings (UGX) via direct bank transfer. Payments are processed following committee approval and subject to verification of all required documentation.

Support process

How to request support — four clear steps.

Step 1

Notify WLU

Contact the WLU Office to notify them of the claim.

Step 2

Submit Documentation

Submit the required documentation, including medical reports or death certificate.

Step 3

Committee Review

The Insurance Committee will review and verify the claim.

Step 4

Disbursement

Approved claims will be processed and disbursed to the beneficiary or estate.

  • Claim received and logged by WLU Insurance Department.
  • Preliminary review for required documentation.
  • Missing documents notified to claimant.

  • Claim assigned to Insurance Committee.
  • Committee members review documents and request additional information if needed.

Step 3 — Deliberation & Consensus

  • Discussion on eligibility and circumstances.
  • Consensus decision on claim validity and action.

  • Committee's decision on claim.
  • Claimant notified with full explanations.

What is expected of you as a member.

  • Maintain active membership and pay annual fees.

    Your PearLife benefit remains active only while your monthly contribution and annual insurance fees are up to date.

  • Claims processed according to outlined procedures.

    All claims must follow the defined submission and vetting process. Unverified or fraudulent claims will be rejected.

  • WLU reserves the right to modify or terminate the policy with advance notice.

    As the organisation grows and evolves, policy terms may be updated. Members will always be notified in advance of any material changes.
